A thousand years in the future, the nation of New Persia shares a continent on an alien world with dangerous native life. During times of drought, the native plants spawn seeds which are carried by dust storms to the lands settled by Earth life. The seeds combust when they land and burn down all they touch, turning centuries of terraforming into ash. The story begins during a drought, and the seeds are spawning.
The other threat to New Persia is the rising power of Azania. The two nations are old foes. Azania lost the last round and is ready for a rematch. With the storm’s arrival, an Azanian attack looms.
Basir Turani is a soldier serving in the Prince’s Own Armored Regiment. He commands a company of tanks, which in the fallen age of New Persia resemble those of 1950s Earth. He meets Suri Pahlavi, a rebellious young woman, who wants more than the role New Persian society allows for women. Together with Farad the fighter pilot and Nasrin the disgraced socialite, the four friends must navigate the storm clouds gathering around New Persia.
